Ancestor Square

Brigham Young Home
During the three decades he led the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brigham Young directed the establishment of more than 300 communities throughout the American West. "Brother Brigham" sent the first settlers to St. George in 1861. During his annual visits to St. George, he made plans for the construction of the temple and tabernacle. In 1871 he purchased a house, and in 1873 he added a spacious two story front section to the building. Brigham Young spent the last winter years of his life at this St. George home. Tours of the home are free and feature the home with many of its original furnishings.
Dixie Center
St. George's own convention center is perfect for conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, retreats and special events.
Fishlake National Forest
This forest is a paradise for its beautiful aspen trees, Scenic Byways, and trails for motorized and non-motorized use. Fishlake offers elk hunting, mackinaw and rainbow trout fishing also. Recreation options include scenic drives, mountain biking, snowmobiling, ATV use, and hiking. The surrounding Fish-Lake Johnson valley area boasts spectacular mountain lake fishing in 3,000 acres of lakes and reservoirs, along with picnic areas and boating. Johnson Farm Dinosaur Tracks
Discover one of the world's finest dinosaur track finds in St. George at Johnson Farm. You'll enjoy seeing these newly found Dilophosaurus and Coelophysis tracks close up. Admission is free. Snow Canyon State Park
Red Navajo Sandstone capped by an overlay of black Lava rock makes photography, hiking, biking and camping in Snow Canyon a double treat. St. George Tabernacle
Shortly after their arrival in the harsh St. George desert, settlers began work on what was to become an elegant tabernacle. The red sandstone walls and graceful interior plaster and woodwork illustrate the pride and dedication of the founders of Utah's Dixie.
St. George Temple
Brigham Young chose St. George as the site where the first LDS temple in Utah would be completed. Beginning in 1871, thousands of settlers came from throughout southern Utah to build the temple. The landmark was dedicated in 1877 and is a holy place where members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints still perform their most sacred ceremonies. Tuacahn Theater and Center for the Arts
The Tuacahn Amphitheater, located at the base of beautiful Snow Canyon, is famous for its spectacular shows and plays. Past productions include popular hits such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Get your Gun, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Oklahoma and The Music Man. Elaborately costumed cast members fill the Tuacahn Canyon Stage with singing and dancing. The stage is surrounded by 1500-foot high red sandstone cliffs. Shows change yearly.
