Wendover was founded as a railroad town after the Western Pacific Railroad surveyed across the Great Salt Lake Desert. It evolved as a typical railroad town with its dance halls and saloons. Bonneville Salt Flats
The Flats are one of the most unique natural features in Utah. Stretching over 30,000 acres, the Bonneville Slat Flats is a fragile resource administered by the Bureau of Land Management. Thousands of visitors, commercial filmmakers and high-speed auto racers make the Bonneville Slat Flats a world famous destination. The 1960's jet powered vehicles captured the imagination of millions. Typically, speed trials are scheduled throughout the summer and fall. Historic Wendover Airfield
Visit the most original World War II airbase in the USA. A small museum is open Monday through Saturday, free of charge. Photographs and dioramas about bomber training in Wendover including the atomic bomb group are featured. Call 435-665-2308 for more information.
